60 Minutes with Anne Boleyn (2015) documents the enactment of a historical figure through sixty “selfies”, evoking a diversity of discourses. For instance, the content and techniques of the images can fluctuate the self with the project’s namesake, creating discussion about fact and fiction. When are the images more sincere, and when are they more constructed, politicised, symbolic, or more related to the historical subject? The project can also be seen as an attempt to connect personal experiences with those considered historical. Various techniques and symbols, for example, are employed to emphasise shared situations through day to day events. These interpretations can highlight the choices we make to authenticate identities and how time affects this process.
