There are times we find ourselves in a realm of shades. In these phases, we sometimes feel compelled to “follow a light” in which to find a resolution. Sometimes, however, this light can become as suspect as the shades – interchangeable, even – and the quest for salvation becomes a means to an end. In this sense, transformation can be seen as futile as it is desirable, yet we are still compelled to ask ourselves: where is the way out? Sailor Moon in the Realm of Hades (2016) can narrate this situation through a personalised enactment of Sailor Moon and her quest to save the universe from “shades”.
